About Kongu Engineering College
Kongu Engineering College was established in 1984 in the Erode district of Tamil Nadu, which is a reputed multi-professional institution. The word ‘Kongu' basically refers to a region of the southern state of India. The college has completed approximately three decades for providing technical education across India and successfully in abroad as well. KEC, Erode has been ranked 68th in the year 2018 under the NIRF ranking.
Kongu Engineering College (Erode) is an autonomous private college affiliated to Anna University, Chennai and approved by AICTE. KEC is accredited by NAAC with an ‘A' grade. On the other hand, the courses offered by the college are NBA accredited. In a survey conducted by ‘The Week', the college has achieved the 21st position among engineering colleges in the south zone of India. In 2017, Kongu Engineering College is awarded as ‘Most Clean Campus' in India by AICTE.
Kongu Engineering College offers multiple Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses in various specializations. To promote research activities among students, the college has 16 research centres in various disciplines. In order to secure admission in KEC UG and PG courses, candidates must have a valid score in the entrance exams conducted by the relevant authority along with the merit obtained in class 12th or qualifying degree respectively. By keeping in mind the necessity of co-curricular and extracurricular activities, the college has various associations, clubs, and societies managed by students and are monitored by the faculty members.
KEC, Erode invests heavily in Research & Development and currently operating 16 R&D centres which have published over 100 books and successfully filed over 20 patents. The institute also operates an IIPC (Industry Institute Partnership Cell) which undertakes various Consulting, Testing and Training projects from the industry which bring in over Rs 40 Lakhs of revenue each year to the institute. The Alumni association at Kongu Engineering College was established in 1997 and has been helping the students and alumni to derive mutual synergies.
KEC Placement cell interacts with reputed organizations to arrange campus interviews for the placement of final year students. The cell also arranges internships for students. The college immensely improved its campus placement percentage rate in recent years from 79% to 91%.
Kongu Engineering College infrastructure is considered to be one of the best in India. Each department of KEC has its own student association and conducts a one-day technical symposium every year. Sports activities are also available in the campus with the well-maintained base ground for hockey, basketball, and football. The campus of KEC has computer labs, hostels, gym, dispensary, ambulance, recreational centre, ATM's, seminar hall and well-maintained labs.

The inaugural function for the 40th Batch of B.E./B.Tech and the 9th Batch of B.Arch has been conducted at the college, marking a significant milestone in the academic journey.
The college has announced that admissions are open for various programs including BE/BTech, ME/MTech, BSc, MSc (5 Years), MCA, and MBA for the 2024-25 academic year.
Kongu School of Architecture has announced that admissions are open for the Bachelor of Architecture program for the 2024 academic year.
The college is accepting applications for Full Time PhD programs for the upcoming academic session, requiring a PG Degree for eligibility.
